Shop & Dealer Terms
- Effective date:

- Last updated:

These terms are for businesses that use BuildTags with their customers.
1.Who these terms are for
These terms apply to a shop, dealership, installer or other business that registers an organization on BuildTags ("BuildTags Business"). They are in addition to our Terms of Service, which also apply. If a signed written agreement with us covers the same subject, that agreement controls for that subject.
If you register for a business, you confirm that you are authorized to act for it and that what you tell us about it is accurate. New business accounts may be reviewed before they are activated.
2.Your team and roles
A business has members with roles (for example owner, admin, manager and staff). What each role may do is set by the product, and only an owner, admin or manager can order inventory. You decide who joins your team and what role they have.
You are responsible for what your team members do in your business's name. Remove people promptly when they leave. A business account may be suspended while we look into a problem.
3.Ordering BuildTag inventory
A business can order BuildTags in bulk to keep in stock. Inventory orders have a minimum and maximum quantity that is shown on the order form; for larger quantities, contact us. Inventory orders are custom products and follow the Refund & Replacement Policy and the Shipping & Delivery Policy.
Tags in your inventory are held by your business and are not attached to any vehicle or customer. Holding a tag does not mean you own any vehicle it will later be attached to. Each tag's permanent address stays reserved and is never reused.
We do not currently offer returns or credits for unused inventory, volume or dealer pricing, or special payment terms for larger accounts. Inventory is paid for through Stripe checkout at the price shown when you order. Inventory that arrives defective, damaged or different from the proof you approved is handled under the Refund & Replacement Policy. If we agree something different with you in a signed written agreement, that agreement controls for that subject.
4.Customer builds, claiming and transfers
You may create a vehicle profile for a customer, record the work you did, install a tag and hand the customer a private activation card or claim link. When the customer claims the vehicle, they take ownership of the digital profile. Your business keeps credit for the work it recorded. The customer can hide shop records from their public page but cannot rewrite who did the work.
Only create records for vehicles you work on or are authorized to represent, and only record work your business really did. Do not knowingly create false or misleading records. A claim, or a business credit, is not proof of legal ownership of a vehicle.
The activation card or link is a private credential. Give it only to the customer it is for. We may investigate, delay, deny or reverse a claim or a transfer when there is reasonable evidence of fraud, a mistake or a dispute.
5.Fraudulent or abusive activations
Do not activate tags to create fake builds, to inflate scans or leaderboards, or to impersonate another shop. If we reasonably believe tags were activated or claimed by fraud, we may switch the affected tags off, hide the builds, suspend the business account and cancel pending orders. We will tell you why where appropriate and lawful and give you a chance to respond. This section does not take away any right you have under law that cannot be waived.
6.Customer information
If you enter a customer's name, email address, phone number or notes in BuildTags, you are responsible for having a lawful reason to share them with us and for telling your customers how you use them. These records are visible to your business's staff and to our administrators and are described in our Privacy Policy. They stay with your business's records after the customer claims the build.
Do not use customer information collected through BuildTags for anything the customer would not reasonably expect, and do not sell it.
7.Brands, logos and no manufacturer affiliation
Only upload logos, photos and brand names you have the right to use. A reference to a vehicle manufacturer, parts maker or other brand on BuildTags does not mean that company sponsors, approves or is affiliated with BuildTags or with your business, and you must not suggest otherwise. BuildTags is not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer. Your own logos and trademarks stay yours. You give us permission to display them as part of your public business profile and attribution. The Verified business badge means only that we confirmed your business's identity and contact details. It is not an inspection or endorsement of your work.
8.Referral and affiliate links
Owners and businesses may add their own affiliate links to builds. They keep what they earn from those links, and BuildTags currently takes no share. You are responsible for the rules of the programs you join and for disclosing material relationships where the law requires it. We do not guarantee that any affiliate program, commission or attribution will work.
We do not currently run our own referral or affiliate arrangement with shops. If that changes, we will update these terms.
9.Payments and disputes
Payments for inventory orders are made through Stripe. If a payment is refunded or disputed with a bank, the related order is flagged and we may pause related tags or orders while we sort it out. Contact customersupport@buildtags.app about any billing problem and we will work with you.
10.Ending a business account
You can stop using BuildTags Business at any time. We may suspend or end a business account for fraud, a security risk, illegal activity, a material violation of these terms or the Terms of Service, or non-payment. Tags that were already attached to a vehicle keep working for the customer who owns the profile. Tag addresses are never reused. Sections that by their nature should continue after the account ends do so. Nothing here limits rights you have under law that cannot be waived.
11.Governing law
Contact us first so we can try to resolve a problem informally. These terms are governed by the same law and venue as our Terms of Service (see its governing law section).
