This page lists the cookies and browser storage BuildTags uses.
1.What this page covers
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We also use similar browser storage. This page lists what BuildTags uses and why. It adds detail to the cookies section of our Privacy Policy. We do not use advertising cookies.
2.Needed to run the site
These make the site and your orders work. They are set when you use the feature, not for tracking.
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in cookies (names start with sb-) | Keep you signed in. Set by our authentication provider (Supabase) through our site. | While you stay signed in; refreshed automatically |
| bt_cart | Remembers the BuildTag design, size and quantity you picked in the shop before you check out. | 14 days |
| bt_orders | Remembers your recent orders placed without an account, so the Orders page can show them (it holds private order links). | 90 days |
| bt_req | Stops a double click or a refresh from placing the same order twice. | 15 minutes |
| bt_claim | Brings you back to a private claim or transfer link after you sign in or sign up. | 2 hours, removed when the claim is done |
| bt_org | Remembers which business you last switched to (Business accounts only). | 1 year |
3.Preferences and fair counting
| Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
| bt_locale | Remembers your language and region choice. | 1 year |
| bt_vid | An anonymous random ID used to count a person scanning the same tag once, to limit repeat likes and reports, and to prevent abuse. It is not used for advertising. | 1 year |
4.Browser storage
- bt_analytics remembers your answer to the analytics question below.
- bt-install-dismissed, bt-dismissed-steps and bt-tour remember tips and prompts you closed.
- An offline cache of the app's static files, used if you install BuildTags to your device.
5.Analytics (Google Analytics)
When analytics is switched on for the site, we use Google Analytics to see which pages people visit. A small notice asks for your choice once and remembers it in your browser.
- Until you choose OK, Google Analytics sets no cookie. It receives only cookieless page signals, with IP addresses anonymized.
- If you choose OK, it sets first-party analytics cookies (Google names them starting with _ga).
- If you choose No thanks, it keeps setting no cookies.
- We do not use Google signals or ad personalization. Analytics is switched off on private pages such as claim, transfer, order, unsubscribe and invite links.
To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser and you will be asked again. We do not currently have a separate "Cookie settings" link, and the same notice is shown to every visitor wherever they are. Google handles this data under its own privacy policy.
6.Other websites
Payments happen on Stripe's hosted checkout page, which sets its own cookies under Stripe's policies. Product, affiliate, map and social links take you to other websites with their own cookies. BuildTags does not add tracking parameters or cookies to those links.
7.Your controls
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the cookies marked needed, sign-in, the cart and order pages will not work properly. Questions: customersupport@buildtags.app.
