Plain rules for using BuildTags safely and honestly.
1.What this covers
This policy applies to everyone who uses buildtags.app, scans or sells a BuildTag, or uses a Business account. It adds detail to the Prohibited use section of our Terms of Service and sits beside our Community Guidelines, which cover how builds, Crews and businesses should behave.
2.Do not use BuildTags to
Deceive
- claim a vehicle, shop, dealership or business that is not yours or that you are not authorized to represent;
- submit false ownership, false vehicle records, or knowingly false specifications or history;
- impersonate a person, shop, manufacturer or brand, or suggest an endorsement or affiliation that does not exist;
- activate, claim or transfer a BuildTag you obtained by fraud or theft, or use a stolen or guessed claim link or code.
Harm or harass
- harass, threaten or intimidate anyone, or post someone's private information without consent;
- post illegal content, or content that sexualizes minors, promotes violence, or is hateful toward people for who they are;
- promote dangerous driving, including street racing on public roads.
Misuse links and the QR code
- point a BuildTag, a profile link or a part link at malware, phishing, scams or misleading redirects;
- use build pages as link farms, or to push unrelated products or spam.
Attack or overload the service
- try to get around authentication, rate limits, bans or other access controls, or access another person's account or data;
- probe, scan or test the service for weaknesses without our written permission (to report a security problem, email customersupport@buildtags.app);
- scrape or copy the service at a scale or speed that burdens it, or use bots or scripts to create accounts, likes, scans or reports;
- interfere with scan counts or analytics, for example by repeatedly scanning to inflate a leaderboard;
- upload viruses or anything designed to damage systems.
Break other people's rights
- upload photos, logos or other material you do not have the right to use, or infringe copyright, trademarks or privacy. See the Copyright Policy;
- use BuildTags in a way that breaks a law that applies to you.
3.Selling and reusing
Do not resell BuildTags accounts or access, or present BuildTags products as your own. A business that uses BuildTags with its customers must also follow the Shop & Dealer Terms. The BuildTags name and logo may be used only as our Terms allow.
4.Reporting a problem
Every public build page has a Report build button. You can also email customersupport@buildtags.app. Please report in good faith. Reports are reviewed by our moderators. We do not promise a response time.
5.What we may do
If we reasonably believe this policy is being broken, we may remove content, hide a build, switch off a BuildTag, limit features, suspend or end an account, or refuse an order. Where appropriate and lawful, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. We may report illegal activity to the authorities.
You can ask us to review a decision by emailing us. This policy does not limit any right you have under law that cannot be waived.
